Absolutely here for the top 2!!! I’m a MI native so in place of Lay’s I like Better Made original. Since moving to London I’ve also become obsessed with Tyrell’s Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar from Modena 🤞🏼

everyone is talking about tyrell! the popular vote 👏🏿

I really loved this and it made me smile, but putting salt & vinegar below ketchup chips? Disrespectful 🥲

My heart cries for bugles, european bugles are superior and I demand justice!!! perfect to dip in cream cheese, the perfect shape, the cheesy taste of the crisp stands on its own.

Although I was shocked by the outcome (Cool Ranch is my least fave in the chipverse 😩) and appalled by the lack of BBQ-flavored-anything on this list, I did in fact bust out laughing many times 😂 ...so thank you for the entertaining read.

thank you for reading! yes, bbq chips don’t really do it for me bc i don’t think it truly delivers against the taste profile of “bbq” 🫣

Thank you for writing this brilliant piece! Your line: “my ministry is the potato chip” had me laughing. And your excellent pun on that abomination known as the Terra chip is too good, lmao. I believe that the top 3 choices are impeccable; I agree wholeheartedly. I’ve never read a more fitting and accurate description of the bizarrely perfect uniqueness of Cool Ranch Doritos. You put into the words the indescribable experience of enjoying Cool Ranch Doritos, an underdog contender which has always held title of #1 in my heart. Thank you for your extraordinary analysis and your unwavering dedication to the ministry of the chip.

if Canada exported ketchup chips, their power would be unstoppable... I do prefer Ruffles ketchup chips to the lays brand, though

I don’t know if these are considered chips but you can’t go wrong with the Popcorners. So savory without all the mess and noise of Doritos.

Omg someone brought these before to a writing workshop and they were HYPE. I think it was the white cheddar flavour or the kettle korn.

Ok THIS: “the hint of lime is supposed to come from the fresh guacamole or salsa, not the chip.” Could not agree more. Also not sure how you feel about truffle but the Torres Truffle chips are good. And feel right for a dinner party?

I love truffle and I think that they are usually well done in chip form. I’ve never heard of Torres but I just looked it up. Beautiful packaging. Would you call it a favourite?

I would but I hit a limit with them pretty quicky - it’s a strong flavor. But they’re so good.

Essential reading!!!

The Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili erasure was interesting… To me it feels like Sweet Chili Heat’s more fun younger sister, and she gets to wear jewel tones

Totally. Sweet Chilli Heat uses funky gel pens while Cool Ranch uses those chic pens from MUJI 🙂‍↔️

Where do you stand on All Dressed?

I’m of the Coco Chanel school of thinking… before you make a chip you should take one thing off and they didn’t get that memo! Too maximalist in a way that doesn’t feel focused. What do you think?

Personally I love the flavor, I kind of like the feeling of a party of flavors. I do agree though that Ruffles Sour Cream & Onion deserved that high spot though, I also like the Utz kind as well but it's less continentially available (at least to me in NorCal).

I’ve never seen Utz before. I’ll try it when I’m in California. You reco the sour cream and onion?
