As much as I love the soft sweet tones of a woman's voice, my right ear is pretty much gone (50 years of crash cymbals and bass amps) so there's that...
After your therapy, take voice lessons. Then you can sing your heart out and not do massive damage.
I took two voice lessons 40 years ago. 30 years ago i was making a living at it, singing for my supper and i still reap the benefits today. Find a Seth Riggs protege.
i do want to take vocal lessons now! i learned so much about the cords during speech therapy and your voice is such a vital instrument to maintain. i appreciate you reading and commenting :)
Heed the speech therapist and your doctor's advice. I had polyps on my vocal chords in college and regularly circumvented the lack of voice by simply dropping lower and lower, soon sounding like Lauren Bacall, or perhaps James Earl Jones.
Friends thought it was sexy, but when it began to happen every time I went out (college life that was frequent), and I never gave it a chance to heal, it became a bigger issue. I escaped surgery, but finding I have challenges today decades later. It's likely exacerbated by living in Arizona, possibly the driest and hottest state in the US. And many plane flights are often required when traveling to speak.
Life is much tamer these days. Wishing I'd taken better care when I was younger. Vocal chord wear can show up unexpectedly later. Glad you're getting what you need and producing exceptional writing always!
π«‘π«‘π«‘ thank you for reading! i owe my recovery to my speech therapist, the polyp is gone. i still try not to strain it because overall the cords feel weaker even though my voice sounds normal
We take so much of our bodies for granted until something requires healing or replacement. It's something else we're never taught, and would be of profound value.
PLEASE do not ignore your vocal doctor's advice - it's the only way to restore your voice. Follow his/her instructions to the letter, unless you want to undergo surgery - and that's not always a guarantee of success.
βWould I have a book deal by now if I pivoted to video?β
This question haunts me. But somehow I found you, and love your voice and the way you structure your trains of thought. So a win is a win?
Also this theme of small talk is so eloquent, and reminds me of us moving into Pluto in Aquarius. Everyone is a symbol now, a microcosm of metadata, an endless conversation that values the whole over the individual. Not βdeepβnecessarily, but revealing of insights that will change most of our lives (Pluto is THAT girl)
I donβt know much about Pluto, Iβm Mercurial, so I looked up what Pluto into Aquarius means and itβs spot on: βsignals radical shifts in technology, societal structures, and human rights, challenging us to rebuild a more equitable world.β ππsounds like the times we are in!!
This line perfectly encapsulates how NYC feels right now: "Sports are like the weather: a perfect conversational social lubricant. When a cityβs sports team is doing well, the whole city can feel it β like fierce rainfall or a warm summer day. It becomes all that anyone can talk about."
YES!!! Itβs honestly such a fun time to be in the city and the perfect preamble to what I think will be a fun summer. Thank you for reading :) will you be watching the game tomorrow?
βIt was as if New York knew that I was cheating on her.β Insane opening btw
